Digestive Enzyme
Digestive Support
Digestive Enzyme helps your body break down more of your food and maximize absorption – converting proteins into amino acids, fats into fatty acids, lactose into digestible sugars, and the complex carbohydrates in beans and vegetables that normally cause gas. This formula covers all four categories, plus three Lactobacillus probiotic strains. One important note: take it with your first bite, not before your meal.
While the label says to take this 20–30 minutes before a meal, we recommend taking it when you start eating – as digestive enzymes should not sit alone in an empty stomach. They act on food; they need food present to function.
Protein digestion – bromelain, papain, and Makzyme-Pro™.
Bromelain (from pineapple stem) and papain (from papaya) are plant-derived enzymes that break dietary proteins into peptides and amino acids. Both are active across a wide pH range, covering both the acidic stomach and the more alkaline small intestine. Makzyme-Pro™ adds fungal protease from Aspergillus oryzae – a different enzyme structure with complementary substrate specificity – plus three Lactobacillus strains to reinforce the gut microbiome environment alongside the enzymatic digestion.
Fat, lactose, and FODMAP digestion.
Fungal Lipase breaks dietary fats into fatty acids and glycerol for absorption – pancreatic lipase production declines with age, and supplemental lipase picks up the slack. Fungal Lactase breaks lactose into glucose and galactose, solving dairy intolerance at the enzyme level rather than through avoidance. Alpha-Galactosidase breaks the oligosaccharides in beans, legumes, and cruciferous vegetables that the body can’t digest on its own – the compounds gut bacteria ferment into gas. This is the enzyme that eliminates the bloating associated with those foods.

Probiotic-Enzyme Synergy
Makzyme-Pro™ Enzyme Blend
+
−
Makzyme-Pro™ combines fungal protease from Aspergillus oryzae – which breaks down protein across the stomach and intestinal pH range – with three Lactobacillus probiotic strains that reinforce the gut microbiome environment for optimal ongoing digestion. Enzyme function and microbial colonization in one blend.
02
Protein Digestion
Bromelain
+
−
Bromelain is a protein-digesting enzyme extracted from pineapple stem. It cleaves dietary proteins into smaller peptides and amino acids, reducing the digestive load on stomach acid and pancreatic enzymes. Active across a broad pH range; also has mild anti-inflammatory properties in gut tissue.
03
Proteolytic Enzyme
Papain
+
−
Papain is a protein-digesting enzyme from papaya latex active across a wide pH range – effective in both the acidic stomach and alkaline intestinal environment. One of the most studied plant-derived digestive enzymes; complements bromelain's protein-digestion activity with a different enzyme structure and substrate specificity.
04
Fat Digestion
Fungal Lipase
+
−
Fungal Lipase breaks down dietary fats into fatty acids and glycerol – the form the body can absorb and use. Produced by Aspergillus species for pH stability across the digestive tract. Pancreatic lipase production declines with age; supplemental lipase supports complete fat digestion regardless.
05
Lactose Digestion
Fungal Lactase
+
−
Fungal Lactase breaks down lactose – the sugar in dairy – into glucose and galactose that the body can absorb normally. Produced by Aspergillus species; stable at the pH levels inside the small intestine where lactose absorption occurs. Essential for lactose-sensitive users who take this with dairy-containing meals.
06
FODMAP Digestion
Alpha Galactosidase
+
−
Alpha Galactosidase breaks down the oligosaccharides – the complex sugars in beans, legumes, and cruciferous vegetables the body can't digest alone. Without it, gut bacteria ferment these sugars, causing gas and bloating. Directly targets FODMAP-related digestive discomfort at the source.
