Iodine Fortify
Thyroid Support
This is high-dose iodine, not to be taken as a daily supplement in most cases – unless directed to do so by a medical practitioner. In short, this is for specific situations. If you’re on thyroid medications or being treated for any thyroid condition, check with your doctor.
12.5mg of iodine is not a nutritional supplement dose. It’s a therapeutic dose – the kind used in clinical and practitioner-guided protocols. That’s what makes it effective for its intended purpose, and it’s why this product carries a medical consultation recommendation.
What iodine actually does.
The thyroid gland uses iodine as the raw material for hormone synthesis – specifically T4 (thyroxine) and T3 (triiodothyronine), the hormones that regulate metabolic rate across nearly every tissue in the body. The 150mcg RDA is the amount needed to prevent deficiency and maintain basic thyroid function. High-dose iodine protocols work at a different level entirely.
The Lugol’s tradition.
This formula uses the Lugol’s combination – potassium iodide (7.5mg) alongside molecular iodine (5mg). The two forms are absorbed and distributed differently: potassium iodide is the form the thyroid preferentially concentrates; molecular iodine is taken up by other iodine-dependent tissues including breast and other glandular tissue. Practitioners who use high-dose iodine typically prefer the combination form for this reason.
Who this is for.
High-dose iodine has a meaningful evidence base for thyroid optimization in iodine-deficient populations and for fibrocystic breast conditions under medical supervision. It is not appropriate as a daily general supplement. If this matches your use case, work with a practitioner who can baseline your thyroid function before and during use. See the Safety Information section for contraindications and drug interactions.
